CORSICA

Written by WLE

Corsica is not called the Island of Beauty for nothing. The island gathers landscapes as rich as they are diverse, along with magical places we are eager to share with you here.

EAT & DRINK

FOR THE DRINKS & ATMOSPHERE

In the lively neighborhood of a city

Bastia
On the small harbor of Erbalunga, Le Pirate is an iconic table of Cap Corse. Facing the boats and the Genoese tower, guests can linger over a drink at sunset. Magical.

Tucked away in a small street of Bastia’s historic center, Le coude à coude is a discreet wine bar loved for its selection of Corsican wines and its warm, unpretentious atmosphere.

Bar de la Libération is a favorite among Bastia locals and comes alive in the evening. No fuss here, just a welcoming atmosphere, a genuine neighborhood spirit, and reasonable prices.

For a more intimate address near the harbor, head to La Rhumerie to sip a Dark & Stormy, or enjoy its extensive rum selection and cocktails.

With your feet in the water

Calvi
La Licorne is an iconic beach bar (or paillotte) in northern Corsica. Fine sand, cocktails or leisurely lunches, and dreamlike scenery make it a must-stop if you’re looking for a moment of pure seaside relaxation.

Porto-Vecchio
The bar-lounge Le Belvédère cultivates an exclusive and refined atmosphere: sunset cocktails, live music in season, and spectacular views over the gulf, framed by umbrella pines and panoramic terraces. A must-see.

Set directly on the sand of the legendary Palombaggia beach, La Paillotte du Ranch Campo embodies the simple, sun-soaked spirit of Corsican beach life. Come for lunch or a drink with your feet in the water, facing the turquoise sea in a preserved natural setting.

Ajaccio
Along the Route des Sanguinaires, KOS Beach Club welcomes guests in a sleek design setting facing a white sand beach. A lively destination that truly comes into its own in the evening, with lounge vibes and cocktails. As one of the most photogenic spots around Ajaccio, it’s the perfect place to soak in the crowd, see and be seen.

Bonifacio
Maora Beach is probably one of the island’s most famous beach clubs. Open since 1985, the establishment is known for its chic yet festive atmosphere, its cocktails, and its late-day DJ sets.

FOR A DELICIOUS MEAL

Bastia

Just 15 minutes from Bastia, in the charming fishing village of Erbalunga, A Piazzetta is something of a local institution. Guests come for authentic Mediterranean cuisine centered around seafood and the fragrant herbs of the maquis, served on a picturesque square in the heart of Cap Corse. A restaurant full of character in a setting that is simply charming.

Porto-Vecchio
Between legendary beaches and fragrant pine groves, Porto-Vecchio is home to a few iconic addresses where the sea sets the rhythm. At Le Cabanon Bleu, set directly on the sand facing the bay of Saint-Cyprien, guests come to enjoy simple yet refined Mediterranean cuisine—grilled fish, local ingredients, and a sun-soaked atmosphere that feels almost barefoot.

Sartène
In the wild Ortolo valley, Domaine de Murtoli unfolds several restaurants scattered across a vast estate of maquis, beaches, and stone shepherd houses. Each table celebrates the surrounding nature: farm products, freshly caught fish, and fragrant herbs come together in a generous, deeply Corsican cuisine, enjoyed facing the sea or by candlelight in a grotto carved into the rock.

Bonifacio
On the port of Bonifacio, Finestra offers a memorable dining experience. The dining room, designed like the hull of a boat, opens through a large window onto the yachts and cliffs beyond. In the kitchen, Chef Italo Bassi blends Italian influences with Corsican ingredients, creating a refined dialogue between two Mediterranean cultures.

FOR A COFFEE BREAK

A stay in Corsica would not be complete without tasting one of the island’s beloved specialties: the canistrelli, a sweet, dry, crisp biscuit also known as cuggiole, cuggiulelle, cujuelle, or canistrr. Perfect with a cup of coffee or tea.

Café des Platanes is a historic institution that has stood on the main square of L’Île-Rousse since 1928. The perfect place to enjoy an artisanal ice cream on the shaded terrace beneath century-old plane trees.

In the stunning hilltop village of Nonza, settle in at La Sassa for an espresso with a spectacular panoramic view over the famous black-sand beach below.

Head to Les Roches Bleues, an iconic address overlooking the dramatic Calanques de Piana, an unforgettable setting for a coffee or a quiet moment facing one of Corsica’s most striking landscapes.

MUST-SEE

THE CLASSICS

Taste Corsica’s cheeses, especially Brocciu, and dishes elevated with the fragrant herbs of the maquis. Venture inland to discover the island’s bold, distinctive products, crafted by small local producers who keep these culinary traditions alive.

The trek
The island is also home to the GR20, one of Europe’s most remarkable long-distance trails. Crossing Corsica from north to south, it reveals dramatic landscapes accessible only on foot. The trek is famously challenging but well worth the effort, with its rivers, waterfalls, and natural pools (Cavu natural pools are beautiful).

The villages
Head inland, away from the crowds and seaside resorts, and begin with the hilltop village of Nonza, northwest of Bastia, one of the island’s most beautiful. Continue through the perched villages of the Balagne region, scattered across the hills east of Calvi and south of L’Île Rousse.
In the northern part of the region, discover Corbara, Pigna, Aregno, Sant’Antonino, and Cateri. Slightly to the southwest lie Avapessa, Muro, Feliceto, Costa, and Speloncato. Further inland, you’ll find Vallica, Olmi-Cappella, Mausoleo, and Pioggiola. At the southern edge of the region sit Lunghignano, Montemaggiore, Cassano, Zilia, and Calenzana.

The beaches
The dramatic Calanques de Piana are a must-see. Among the island’s most beautiful beaches, Palombaggia, Santa Giulia, and Rondinara are well worth the visit. Further north, Nonza Beach stands out for its wild beauty and striking black pebbles.
For a magical experience in the south, walk through the shallow turquoise waters from Piantarella Beach, near Bonifacio, to reach the small island of Piana.

The Lavezzi Islands
Take a boat from Bonifacio to reach the Lavezzi Islands, an archipelago of paradise-like islets located 4 km from Corsica and 10 km from Sardinia. Come for a few hours of untouched nature, nothing more, nothing less. Bring a small picnic before you leave.

SLEEP

FOR A PERFECT NIGHT’S SLEEP

Bastia
North of Bastia, on the still-wild coastline of Cap Corse, Domaine Misíncu is a discreet retreat set between sea and maquis. Within this preserved estate facing the Mediterranean, the hotel embodies a quiet, understated luxury, sunlit architecture inspired by traditional Corsican houses, fragrant gardens, and direct access to a secluded beach.

Calvi
Nestled within a tree-filled estate just outside Calvi in the Balagne region, La Signoria is an elegant 18th-century residence transformed into a charming hotel. Mediterranean gardens, a refined restaurant, and a softly elegant atmosphere create a place where time seems to stand still.

Porto-Vecchio
Just minutes from Palombaggia beach, Les Oliviers Corsica is set within a grove of century-old olive trees and fragrant maquis. Elegant villas, sun-drenched terraces, and a peaceful rhythm create an intimate address. Another charming address of the area would be the hotel of Ranch Campo, to immerse yourself in nature.

Figari (south-central Corsica)
In the heart of the wild hills of Alta Rocca, Domaine de Piscia is a peaceful retreat surrounded by forests, rivers, and the granite landscapes typical of southern Corsica. Within this preserved natural estate, restored shepherd houses and terraces opening onto the mountains invite guests to slow down, between Corsican authenticity and absolute serenity.

Bonifacio
Just minutes from Bonifacio, Hôtel & Villas Version Maquis is tucked away in wild maquis overlooking the turquoise waters of Santa Manza Bay. Contemporary suites and villas open onto nature and the sea, creating an elegant and peaceful atmosphere where understated luxury meets the raw beauty of southern Corsica. We also love Cala di Greco, an intimate hotel perched on the hills facing the citadel of Bonifacio, surrounded by maquis and olive trees. Bright suites, private terraces, and sweeping sea views make it a tranquil retreat where guests come to take in the rugged beauty of Corsica’s southern tip.
