WANT Les Essentiels x Bec Brittain presents Perception + Reflection
WANT Les Essentiels is hand selecting the most talented, cutting-edge designers from the worlds of lighting, furniture, sculpture and visual arts to showcase through their retail platform. With a new creative director at the helm of WANT, Christine Charlebois' intention is to foster a like-minded community of individuals who share a passion for artistic expression.

The first designer to be showcased is Manhattan-based lighting designer Bec Brittain who has created a custom installation of her prized fixtures in the West 4th flagship. This is the first in an ongoing showcase series to bring contemporary design to WANT Les Essentiels' clientele.

The installation riffs on Brittain’s Shy Beam design; a series of suspended trapezoidal mirrors and cylindrical LED lights that hang and interact with the light. Brittain’s ‘Climbing Beams’ connect the wall to the ceiling, while ‘Wall Flags’, which pair the brass tube lighting with sheets of smoked and coloured glass, appear to creep up the walls. Nearby, a ‘Hanging Flag’ casts the store aglow in a peachy palette. “WANT has such a solid history of quiet but exquisitely produced work that transcends trends,” says Brittain. “And ultimately, that’s my own personal brief too.”
